When you say you’re capable of reading, you’re not detailed about that. How well can you read? I mean can you read a book or a newspaper in Arabic? If you can easily understand a newspaper and have a large vocabulary, then you have a lot of potential. It is very difficult to learn Arabic on your own. I don’t know anyone who has learned Arabic on his or her own and away from the country. You would need to live in the country. It’s very different even for an English speaker to become excellent at French without having ever lived in France, and we’re talking about similar languages. Unless you already speak a very similar language, learning another language on your own is a tall order. However, that said, you can accomplish a lot on your own. You can find language conversation partners. If you can find native speakers, you could improve a lot.
